Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi, commonly known as FMS or FMS Delhi, established in 1954 under the aegis of the University of Delhi offers management education to the professional managers as part-time and full-time MBA programmes. It was the first business school in India which started offering a Full Time MBA programme. It has been consistently ranked among the top business schools in Indian b-school surveys. The first set of professors were trained at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the institute was started at the Delhi School of Economics premises under the-then Dean, Prof. A. Dasgupta. It is widely known to be one of the oldest business schools in India and correspondingly has a very strong alumni network.. The institute has since then expanded on the number of management courses available
FMS was ranked the 4th Best b-school in India by the Business Today magazine survey 2010, just behind IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta.[1] It was ranked the 5th Best b-school of the nation by the Outlook magazine survey 2010.[2] According to public perception, FMS Delhi ranks 4th, as substantiated by the popular MBA preparation forum Pagalguy in its 2010 rankings.

In appreciation of its contributions, the Industrial Finance Corporation of India and Amway Corporation has created chair professorships in Industrial Management and Entrepreneurial Development respectively. The Shanti Prasad Jain Advanced Management Research Center, the research and development wing of FMS, has been set up at the University of Delhi with assistance from Bennett Coleman & Company Limited. In 2005, Union Human Resource Development Ministry, Govt. Of India has proposed a new chair in the name of the former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, to promote management of innovation.
The annual tuition fee for both the 2 year full-time programmes, MBA(FT) & MBA(MS) Programme is Rs. 10,500(USD 200), which is amongst the lowest in the world for an MBA degree. MBA (FT) Programme had 166 seats (including the seats reserved for foreign candidates) and MBA (MS) had 75 seats (including seats reserved for foreign candidates) for the 2010-2012 batches. With effect from academic year 2011-12, the two batches have been merged to a single one, MBA (FT) with a total intake of 226.[5] The admission to the course are done on the basis of score in Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). FMS earlier had its own entrance exam which was discontinued starting session 2012-14 [6]. The notification for various programmes offered by FMS is advertised through national newspapers in September–October every year.
For the Doctoral programme, the maximum number of Seats is 20. The candidates are required to appear in the entrance test conducted every year in December. However, candidates falling under some categories are exempted from appearing in this entrance test.
The MBA(part-time) programme is designed to develop conceptual knowledge and behavioral skills in students who continue to work in industry, government or other organizations. The intake in this programme for the year 2011 is 232 students. The admission test for this programme is separate from the admission test for the full-time programme and was held on 23 January 2011.
